Our Core Services

Auto Parts Services’ current range of services includes, but is not limited to¦

Processing total loss vehicles
This service encompasses the collection of our clients’ total loss vehicles, nationally, and the storage thereof until the claims process has been finalised.
All total loss vehicles are collected free of charge anywhere in South Africa, within 48 hours from receiving an instruction. In order to expedite the process, we pay all towing and storage costs at the point of collection and claim the amount back from our clients.
Where we feel that the costs are exorbitant and we are unsuccessful in having them reduced, we refer the matter to our clients for approval.
All total loss vehicles are stored free of charge. Once the relevant registration certificate and invoice have been received, payment is processed at our head office and the cheque delivered to our clients within 7 days.
Processing recovered stolen vehicles

This service encompasses outsourcing and managing the recovery of these stolen vehicles to a professional team, specialising in the recovery of stolen vehicles in Southern Africa.
From start to finish, we ensure that the correct procedures are followed and that all vehicles are delivered to our premises with the correct documentation.
Our clients are updated on the status of all recoveries on a continuous basis by means of progress reports. Upon recovery, our client’s vehicles are sold on a tender basis.

Collection of documents from financing institutions

To alleviate our clients’ workload and reduce the turn-around time in finalising a total loss claim, we undertake to collect the vehicle registration documents from financing institutions, situated within the centres in which our branches are located. Once collected, we notify our clients and request a VAT invoice.

Collection of damaged parts from repairers
Many insurers are compelled by their policy wordings to replace parts on new vehicles, despite the fact that these car parts are repairable.
These “repairable” car parts are generally left at the repairer’s workshop, where they are often repaired and used to repair the damaged vehicle or another vehicle. In an attempt to assist our clients in reducing their repair costs, we recently launched an innovative pilot project in the Gauteng region to collect these damaged parts and sell them to scrap dealers.
Not only will this value-added service reduce the cost of repairing vehicles, it will also ensure that the repairer is actually fitting a new part and not simply repairing the damaged car part.
Deregistration of Stolen Vehicles
The Road Traffic Act requires that all stolen vehicles be deregistered as “theft”. Many insurers are placing the onus on their clients to comply with this requirement, which has resulted in much frustration and confusion for all the parties involved.
We offer our clients the service of deregistering the vehicles on their behalf. An added benefit of this service is that the insurer is then noted as the owner of the vehicle on the NATIS system, and only the insurer can draw a duplicate document.
This reduces the incidences of fraud, where the vehicle is recovered and the client then claims it back as the registered owner.
Management of stolen vehicle portfolios
We have negotiated a deal with Unicode which allows us to manage our clients’ stolen vehicle portfolios on the Unicode system. The Unicode system is the only system in South Africa, which links the details of vehicle theft claims, entertained by insurers, to the South African Police Services mainframe. In a nutshell, vehicle theft claims captured by an insurer on the Unicode system are downloaded to the SAPS’ computer system. Once the data is matched, the SAPS system is automatically updated with the insurers’ claims data.
One of the notable benefits of being a Unicode subscriber, is that all the pertinent details of vehicle theft claims are available to the SAPS, thus increasing the insurer’s vehicle recovery rate. Should any of our clients subscribe to Unicode, we undertake to capture all new vehicle theft claims on the Unicode system as a value-added service.
In addition, we will monitor the system for any recoveries and exception reports issued by Unicode and notify our clients accordingly.
